Mazu Lotus Tabletop Lamp

$149.00

Mazu is a Chinese sea goddess, the deified form of the historical Lin Mo or Lin Moniang, a Fujianese shamaness traditionally dated to c. 960 – c. 987.  She was thought to roam the seas, protecting her believers through miraculous interventions. She is now generally regarded by her believers as a powerful and benevolent Queen of Heaven. The legends and mythology surrounding her are extensive and, not surprisingly, Mazu is also used to mean, "Mother," or "Grandmother.

Made from two layers of laser cut wood backed by a dichroic, acrylic-lined shoji paper.  The seemingly magical acrylic changes color as your eyes move across it.  This table lamp includes a warm white, 25 watt equivalent LED light bulb.  The colors are all made by the acrylic.
